We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role is in the industry of accounting, and the successful candidate will be expected to oversee general accounting tasks, provide leadership to accounting personnel, and work cross-functionally with other departments.
Responsibilities:
• Assume a leadership role in guiding and advising accounting personnel in their daily tasks
• Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and account reconciliations
• Assist with various inventory functions and adjustments, including physical counts, reporting, variances, and controls
• Manage the month-end closing and prepare journal entries as necessary
• Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Prepare quarterly reviews of balance sheet GL account balances
• Prepare governmental reports and other notices as required
• Provide support in various tax compliance reporting
• Prepare documentation for external auditors
• Work on special projects as required
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement and change
• Delegate responsibilities to the accounting team as needed
Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or related field
• Proficient in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
• Demonstrable experience with general ledger management and journal entries
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential
• Experience with month-end close procedures
• Familiarity with NetSuite and Oracle software will be an added advantage
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Accounting principles is required
• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
• Demonstrable problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and departments
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior team members.
