Associate Attorney

Robert Half is partnered with a premier insurance coverage and litigation defense law firm in Salt Lake City on the search for a 2+ years’ Associate Attorney to join their growing insurance defense practice. Candidates must hold an active license to practice in Utah state and federal district courts. This is an exceptional opportunity to handle a variety of matters including general liability, products liability, executive liability, medical malpractice, and Business Litigation. Candidates interested in this position should have the ability to proactively work independently and as part of a team; should demonstrate strong legal research and analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; and should have working knowledge of both state and federal court procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Draft, prepare and handle pleadings, motions, orders and legal memoranda

• Draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions

• Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency

• Prepare and take depositions of parties and experts

• Review client documents, draft case evaluations and status report correspondence

• Assist with and participate in trial preparation, mediations and court appearances

• Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues and staff

Requirements - Practical knowledge of Liability Defense

• Wide ranging experience with Complex Commercial Litigation

• General familiarity with trial preparation

• Medical malpractice experience highly desired

• Proven knowledge of Defending Depositions

• Quality experience with liability insurance

• Well-founded grasp of legal research

• Foundational knowledge in Products Liability

• Comprehensive knowledge of Insurance Defense Litigation

• Insurance defense experience preferred

• Insurance Defense Litigation experience

• Earlier work involving Negotiating Settlements

• Must possess analytical, legal research and writing skills

• Stellar academic credentials and references

• Sound written and verbal communication skills

• Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize client matters and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

• Licensed attorney
