Robert Half Assistant Controller in San Antonio, Texas

Description

Our client is searching for an Assistant Controller. In this role, you will be entrusted with overseeing the, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role is integral to supporting the controller, managing the small staff and ensuring accuracy of the records on a consistent basis.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and support Accounting Managers and team to ensure accurate and timely processing

• Assist in managing and coordinating the financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

• Monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial policies, recommending improvements where necessary

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes to provide accurate financial projections

• Analyze and report on financial results and identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks

• Create and recommend major financial policies for the company to senior management

• Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring accurate and complete documentation

• Implement and refine internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies and fraud

• Assist with managing the ERP system and other accounting software, ensuring accurate financial data

• Lead and mentor subordinate accounting staff, providing training and guidance for professional growth.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience, 5 years as a supervisor in accounting role

• Should have a strong foundation in Accounting Functions

• Auditing expertise is necessary

• Must have experience in managing budgets and accounting for large projects that are paid over time

• Bachelor's degree in accounting related field is required

• CPA or CMA certification is preferred

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are needed

• Must have the ability to handle confidential information responsibly

• Should have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is expected

• Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
