Description Robert Half is actively searching for an earnest, resourceful Controller to join the innovative team at an prominent services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Key responsibilities
Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - CPA/MBA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to meet deadlines
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
Account reconciliation experience
Cash Flow Reports experience desired
Expense reports experience
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
