Description We are seeking a Controller to join our team based in San Diego, California. This role involves overseeing general accounting functions, providing technical GAAP leadership, and coordinating work related to internal and external audits. The successful candidate will also be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and various management/staff development duties.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the general accounting function, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and balance sheet management
• Provide technical accounting GAAP leadership and support across all entities
• Ensure company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP
• Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records
• Conduct comprehensive analysis and explanations of monthly results
• Prepare the annual budget in conjunction with input from other areas of the organization
• Prepare and update quarterly revenue and expense forecasts
• Ensure that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting objectives and responsibilities
• Establish priorities, plan, assign, and direct work
• Provide leadership/management for a variety of ad hoc initiatives, including financial systems implementation, process enhancements, and accounting structures for new business models and relationships.
Skills:
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Knowledge of ADP - Financial Services
• Familiarity with DCAA
• Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
• Understanding of ERP Solutions
• Proficiency in Accounting Functions
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Auditing skills
• Familiarity with Budget Processes Requirements • Significant experience in the role of a Controller, with a minimum of 7 years in a similar position
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and ADP - Financial Services
• Familiarity with DCAA regulations and guidelines
• Operational knowledge of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions
• Extensive experience with Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Ability to carry out Auditing procedures effectively
• Experience with Budget Processes, including planning, allocation, and management
• Proven track record of managing and overseeing financial operations in a company
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work
• Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications like CPA or CMA would be a plus.
