John Asdell with Robert Half is partnered with an expanding Defense Contractor that is seeking a Director of Finance. This Director will be responsible for leading and expanding the Program Finance function of the organization. In this key role, you will oversee and manage all financial aspects related to our diverse portfolio of defense programs. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of financial leadership experience in the defense industry and a proven track record of effective program finance management. The role is offered with excellent cash compensation and equity opportunities. Additionally, the company offers a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Finance Oversight:
Lead and oversee the program finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget adherence, and compliance with contractual obligations across all defense programs.
Collaborate with program managers to develop and maintain program budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Financial Strategy and Planning:
Work closely with senior leadership to develop financial strategies aligned with the organization's overall objectives and goals.
Drive financial planning initiatives, including the development of long-range financial plans and program-specific financial strategies.
Contractual Compliance:
Ensure compliance with government regulations and contractual requirements for all defense programs.
Provide guidance to the finance team on navigating complex contractual and financial issues.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis of program performance, identifying areas for improvement and supporting strategic decision-making.
Prepare comprehensive financial reports for executive leadership and government stakeholders.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing program finance team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting professional development and growth.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess financial risks associated with defense programs, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure program success.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address financial challenges and uncertainties.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in the defense industry, with a focus on program finance management.
In-depth knowledge of government contracting regulations and compliance requirements.
Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide strategic financial guidance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
