Job Summary:
Our client, a well-established organization, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support their payroll team on a contract basis. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the processing of payroll, maintaining records, and providing administrative support for payroll-related tasks. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Support:
Assist in processing payroll by reviewing timesheets, attendance records, and PTO requests for accuracy.
Enter employee data into payroll systems and ensure correct calculation of hours worked, overtime, and deductions.
Help with the distribution of paychecks and direct deposit information to employees.
Documentation & Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate payroll records and filing systems, ensuring employee information is up-to-date and confidential.
Assist in the preparation and filing of necessary payroll documents, including W-2s, 1099s, and tax filings.
Support the creation of reports related to payroll, such as overtime reports, deduction summaries, and benefit enrollments.
Employee Support:
Address basic payroll inquiries from employees, including questions about paycheck discrepancies or PTO balances.
Provide assistance with updating personal information, tax withholding forms, and other payroll-related requests.
Compliance Assistance:
Ensure that payroll records comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Assist in preparing payroll-related documents for audits and compliance reviews.
Administrative Tasks:
Help with the setup and maintenance of payroll records for new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
Support other departments with payroll-related information, such as HR and benefits.
Requirements
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in a payroll or administrative role (preferably in payroll, HR, or accounting).
Basic knowledge of payroll processes and tax regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
