The Payroll Administrator opportunity will be located in San Fernando, California as a short-term contract / temporary role.
Key responsibilities
Produce reports after compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
Understand and report necessary changes to payroll operations by maintaining established policies and procedures
Using federal and state regulations and guidelines, ensure company compliance
Ensure employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and confidential information
Perform review and verification of source documents
Handle payroll record updates by keeping changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
Prepare for department heads relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports
Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities
Manage payroll information requests and questions
Offer assistance with internal and external audits related to payroll
Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities
Perform any other duties that arise in the course of normal business operations
Collect, calculate, and enter relevant data to maintain payroll records
Handle payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis Requirements - General proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
2+ years of relevant experience in payroll
Data entry experience preferred
Payroll experience desired
Knowledgeable about internal controls
Understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
Proficient with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional
Prior experience working with accounting software
