Based in the San Francisco, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Major responsibilities
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Requirements
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Solid understanding of Annual Financial Reporting
CPA or MBA preferred
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Vow to meet business deadlines
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Keys:
12 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience
Must have industry experience in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering
Cost accounting experience or exposure
Preparation and monitoring of financial forecasts, budgeting, compliance, and project management
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
