Description
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager with expertise in managing human resources in a unionized environment. This role requires a professional who can lead, problem-solve, and ensure compliance while providing exceptional support to our employees. As the HR Manager with Union Experience, you will play a crucial role in managing various aspects of human resources, with a specific focus on unionized environments. Your responsibilities will include handling employee relations, compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), and supporting day-to-day HR operations. This role is 100% on-site in San Francisco, CA, a 3-6 month contract opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Union Expertise:
Demonstrate a deep understanding of union dynamics and CBA policies.
Act as a key liaison during union and labor management committee meetings.
Recruitment Support:
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, prescreening candidates, conducting interviews, extending offers, and facilitating onboarding.
Payroll Knowledge:
- Utilize payroll knowledge to resolve payroll-related issues, including HSA, benefits, and vendor management.
HR Department Improvement
Identify and address performance issues within the HR department to enhance efficiency and professionalism.
Ensure accurate data entry in ADP.
HR Operations:
- Oversee and provide day-to-day HR operations support for a workforce of 103 employees, including benefits administration, leave management, and terminations.
Employee Relations:
Proactively address employee relations issues, including harassment claims.
Collaborate with HR Attorney to ensure compliance with CA labor laws and regulations, as well as union-related requirements.
Leave of Absence and Termination Support:
Manage all aspects of leaves of absence (LOA) and termination processes.
Provide guidance and support to employees regarding their benefits.
Transition Management:
Assist in the transition process by implementing changes and supporting employees during transitional periods.
Requirements
Requirements:
Proven experience as an HR Manager or in a similar leadership role.
Strong understanding of union dynamics and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
Proficiency with ADP software (preferred).
Exceptional problem-solving and leadership skills.
Ability to navigate complex employee relations issues.
Excellent knowledge of HRIS integration projects.
Recruiting experience, including job posting, candidate screening, and onboarding.
Familiarity with payroll processes and problem resolution.
Thorough knowledge of California labor laws and regulations.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
HR certification (e.g., SHRM, HRCI) is a plus.
