Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review tax work papers and returns for hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, and special purpose vehicles (SPVs).

  • Review estimated tax calculations.

  • Prepare and review investor tax documents and reports.

  • Manage relationships with external accounting, tax, and legal firms.

  • Conduct research and analysis on investor tax inquiries, providing appropriate responses.

  • Coordinate with other departments and external audit firms regarding audited financial statements, including ASC 740 (formerly FIN 48) analysis.

  • Conduct research and analysis on tax law changes affecting the asset management industry.

    Requirements

  • 3-4+ years’ experience in public accounting with an emphasis in Flow-Through Taxation

  • Experience with and understanding of partnership agreements for hedge fund, and private equity funds (experience with real estate funds a plus)

  • Experience with and significant knowledge of hedge fund specific tax issues, including but not limited to the computation of Schedule M-1s and tax allocations using the aggregate method and layering

  • Experience with and comprehension of private equity fund specific tax issues, including targeted capital account allocations

  • Experience with real estate fund specific tax issues, including REIT qualification helpful

  • Experience with and identification of tax issues related to international taxes and tax-exempt organizations

  • Experience with the preparation and review of tax work papers as well as federal and state tax returns

  • Coordination and management of the tax return preparation and review process among several public accounting firms

  • Strong understanding and application of complex tax and accounting rules, and industry accounting practices

  • Strong GPA and a CPA is preferred.
