Description If you have accounting experience and want to work with a well-respected Non-Profit firm, Robert Half has an opening for a Senior Accountant. You will be responsible for preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, creating budgets and forecasts, preparing audits, and managing internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Crucial components of the role include analytical skills and an ability to handle a challenging, fast-paced work culture. This Senior Accountant role is with a company in the Non-Profit field and is located in San Francisco, California. How you will make an impact

  • When working with business partners, ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls. Additionally, be able to provide support on special requests

  • Offer involvement in various department-wide initiatives

  • Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

  • Produce error-free monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

  • Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Adherence to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner Requirements

  • SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Strong time management skills preferred

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • 3+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Strong communication and social skills

  • Accounting 2000 experience preferred

  • Foundation Grants experience desired

  • Practical knowledge of NetSuite

  • General familiarity with financial statement preparation

  • Deep understanding of Private Grants

  • Quality experience with non-profit fund accounting

  • Proven knowledge of Analyze Financial Statements

  • Well-founded grasp of Financial Statement

  • Experience with general ledger

  • Government Grants experience required

Must have:

  • Grant fund accounting experience (i.e. gov’t funding, corporate funding, private foundation funding, etc.)

  • Preparing funding reports

  • Good communication

  • Larger ERP experience (i.e. NetSuite, Great Plains, MS Dynamics, Sage, Mainframe, etc.)
