Description
We are seeking a diligent Staff Accountant located in SAN FRANCISCO, California. The role focuses on many aspects of accounting with three areas of focus: posting payments to accounts receivable and contacting customers with past-due balances, preparing general ledger entries for the monthly and annual closing process, and reviewing and coding invoices for payment. Additional duties include general ledger reconciliations, preparing sales reports, preparing monthly sales tax reports, preparing the quarterly underground tank return, and other responsibilities assigned by the Accounting Manager. Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
· Enters payments for Blue & Gold Fleet wholesale accounts receivable in Anchor and balances cash receipts to payment history. Enters payments in Sage accounts receivable module to update the cash management system.
· Sends weekly bill reminders and statements for Blue & Gold Fleet wholesale accounts receivable, and contacts accounts, as needed, for payment.
· Updates and distributes weekly accounts receivable aging reports for Blue & Gold Fleet wholesale accounts to management.
· Reconciles Blue & Gold Fleet wholesale accounts receivable and deferred revenue on a monthly basis to general ledger.
· Works with sales managers to manage overdue accounts.
· Processes miscellaneous cash receipts entries in accounts receivable module for Blue & Gold Fleet.
General Ledger and Payables
· Prepares monthly and year end general ledger journal entries and accruals.
· Prepares monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
· Assists with the monthly close process.
· Adheres to internal controls and recommends new procedures to streamline transaction processing.
· Reviews and codes payable invoices.
Other
· Prepares and remits monthly sales tax and use tax report to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
· Prepares and files quarterly Underground Tank Return for fuel received.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· One to two years' experience in accounts receivable, performing reconciliations and accounting functions preferred.
· Must be energetic, organized, detail oriented, and motivated to work independently.
· Requires strong command of the English language and excellent verbal/phone and written communication skills.
· Must have a strong math aptitude.
· Completion of college accounting courses preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Strong organizational skills.
· Requires ability to work on teams.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
· Experience with Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign and Sage.
· Ability to work successfully under pressure and deadline commitments and have proven history of ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
