Gene Kim is searching for a Tax Research and Planning Manager.
This tax professional must have the ability to conduct research on a variety of tax issues and possess broad technical tax expertise and the ability to develop technical skills outside of his/her current role’s core competency. The Tax Research Manager must have the ability to conduct research on a variety of tax issues and possess broad technical tax expertise and the ability to develop technical skills outside of his/her current role’s core competency. The Expert must be able to analyze and develop a defensible conclusion on a tax issue using strategic and critical thinking skills, and communicate effectively to upper management, regulators, and taxing authorities.
A successful candidate will
Determine the appropriate questions to ask, research the relevant authority, formulate a conclusion and communicate it to the stakeholders
Develop planning strategies using scenario modeling and/or financial analysis to improve the benefits realized from implementation of federal, state and local tax planning strategies
Document conclusions and positions for the tax return, audit, regulatory filings, and ASC 740 Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes
Monitor, evaluate and communicate the impact on the Company of proposed or enacted changes in federal, state and local law;
Manage and facilitate IRS and FTB income tax audits, including preparing and reviewing responses;
Advise and provide information and analysis on federal, state and local tax aspects of significant transactions such as acquisitions, dispositions, and financing, factoring in the regulatory overlay;
· 6+ years corporate tax experience, either in public accounting or private industry
· Superior communication skills, both written and verbal - must be able to speak very clearly and confidently with a variety of people within the company
· Public accounting tax experience required, JD/LLM strongly preferred
