Description We are in search of a Medical Coder - Health and Information Management detail oriented to join our team based in San Leandro, California. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity in the healthcare industry. Your main duties will involve reviewing medical coverage, replacing dental coding, and working in a non-clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Review and process dental charge reviews and medical coverage documents • Conduct replacement of dental coding as needed • Handle shift work between the hours of 08:00 - 15:00 • Utilize your skills in non-clinical healthcare settings • Ensure accurate processing and coding of medical records • Perform duties in accordance with industry standards and practices • Collaborate with the team to ensure the smooth operation of the health and information management department • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and practices • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including privacy and confidentiality standards • Resolve any coding-related inquiries or issues in a timely and detail oriented manner.

• Ability to review and analyze medical records for accuracy and completeness.

• Experience with non-clinical aspects of healthcare administration is essential.

• Proficiency in using medical software for record keeping and coding.

• Knowledge of medical coverage policies and procedures.

• Familiarity with dental coding is a plus.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and make decisions based on established guidelines.

• Must be committed to continuous learning and detail oriented development in the field.

• A degree in Health Information Management or related field is preferred.

• Certification as a Medical Coder from a recognized institution is required.
