This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the San Luis Obispo, California region. If you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, you might be right for this position. What you get to do every day
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation Requirements - Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Deep understanding of financial reporting
Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience
Command of journal entries
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Great attention to detail
