Robert Half Controller in San Luis Obispo, California

Description We are seeking a Controller to join our team in San Luis Obispo, California. This role is crucial in our financial sector, focusing on directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling an accounting system that accurately represents the financial position of the organization. You will be responsible for overseeing budgeting, general ledger, accounts payable, fixed asset, and accounts receivable among other accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Direct, coordinate, maintain, and control an accounting system that accurately reflects the financial position of the organization

• Safeguard organizational assets and administer the company's fiscal record keeping

• Ensure accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions

• Prepare reports for Senior Management, auditors/examiners, external users, and government agencies

• Oversee budgeting, cost accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, fixed asset, and accounts receivable

• Monitor department policies and procedures and recommend improvements

• Serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting

• Ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and organizational procedures

• Assign, direct, and appraise accounting staff

• Ensure that the Accounting Department supports the overall goals of the organization and that Accounting services are delivered professionally and efficiently. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services

• Solid understanding of Accounting Functions

• Expertise in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with Auditing and Budget Processes

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required

• Experience in Audit - Financial and general Audit

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively

• Demonstrated leadership abilities and team management experience

• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions based on analysis

• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Prior experience in a similar role as a Controller is desirable.
