Description

We are inviting applications for the position of a Senior Development Accountant, located in San Luis Obispo, California. The chosen candidate will be an integral part of the accounting and finance department, focusing on managing development draw processes for multiple ongoing projects. The role requires a high level of proficiency in handling various accounting systems and tools to maintain accurate financial records, prepare financial statements, and assist in audit preparation.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the development draw process for multiple ongoing projects, including the month-end closing of corporate and related party accounting records

• Prepare journal entries to record transactions to appropriate general ledger accounts

• Review project cost activity to ensure accurate and consistent coding

• Collaborate with construction and development departments to enter and maintain project budgets in the accounting system

• Work closely with Development Leadership to facilitate an effective flow of information between accounting, finance, and development operations

• Assist Development Accounting team in completing Funding Draws for projects from various funding sources

• Handle the closure of projects upon completion in collaboration with internal stakeholders

• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts across all applicable entities

• Actively seek ways to streamline and expedite monthly and other development accounting processes

• Assist in annual audit preparation and year-end closing.

Requirements • Must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role.

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel is a must.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as Oracle, SAP, and NetSuite is required.

• Demonstrated experience with account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Solid understanding of general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.

• Ability to prepare and record journal entries accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• CPA certification is a plus but not required.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
