HR RISK & SAFETY SPECIALIST

The HR Risk & Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring and coordinating company health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training. Design and work closely with HR Manager to develop in-depth safety training programs as well as employee development curriculum for the purpose of reducing and controlling risks & liabilities. Provide expert advice on risk management and safety issues and determine ways to minimize those risks and liabilities to the daily operations.

COMPENSATION: $65K TO $72K

LOCATION: SAN MARCOS, CA

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL TIME

REQUIRED: FLUENT IN SPANISH

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develops safety programs for various departments to meet and exceed OSHA safety compliance programs Performed hazard analysis and recommends mitigation procedures Manage and maintain workers’ compensation program including claim investigations, settlements, and comply with litigation requests Ensure workers’ compensation pay rates are fair and equitable in order to retain and recruit employees Conducts daily/routine safety and hazard field inspections Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire, smoke, incidents, accidents; prepares report of findings and submits recommendations Educate staff on health and safety protocols (hosting presentations, creating worksheets, etc.) Prepare reports for management Compile safety programs Practice safe working techniques Develop and maintain health and safety standards Standardize health and safety protocols & policies Promote safety Initiatives Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance. Such as OSHA forms 300, 300A, 301 Liaising with existing staff to clarify job descriptions and related expectations Drafting instructional manuals and other relevant documentation Administering regular detailed needs assessments to identify skills deficits Develop training programs and curriculums to provide a clear career path Build monthly, quarterly, and annual employee training programs Implement training KPI’s Communicate all training programs on a timely basis Monitor staffs’ performance by liaising with managers and department heads Availing yourself as a sounding board for all employees with the explicit aim of improving their orientation and training

Requirements Required: Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field At least 2+ years of experience in a safety position At least 2 years of experience with risk management and employee development Registration as a Health and Safety Officer with OSHA within 6 months of full-time Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Skills, travel logistics and time management Must have good leadership and communication skills both written and verbal Very comfortable with public speaking Strong teamwork abilities In-depth knowledge of staff learning and assessment protocol Fluent in Spanish (REQUIRED) Ability to meet deadlines Making decisions and problem solving Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships Resolving conflicts and negotiating with others Friendly and approachable
