Description
As a Tax Accountant at our client’s CPA firm, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities, utilizing Lacerte Tax Software. You will work closely with clients, assist with tax planning, and provide recommendations to optimize tax positions. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, technically proficient in tax software, and able to manage multiple priorities during tax season and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and LLCs using Lacerte Tax Software.
Tax Planning: Assist clients with tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize financial outcomes, ensuring compliance with tax laws.
Research: Conduct tax research on various issues and provide guidance on complex tax questions.
Client Interaction: Maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries, discussing tax strategies, and explaining tax-related documents in an understandable manner.
Review & Compliance: Review tax returns and workpapers for accuracy and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Tax Documentation & Reporting: Organize and maintain tax files, ensuring accurate documentation for filings, audits, and client reviews.
Collaborate with Senior Team Members: Work alongside senior accountants and tax managers to ensure the timely filing of returns and adherence to tax deadlines.
Special Projects: Assist with special tax-related projects and provide support during tax audits as needed.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
2+ years of experience in tax preparation, preferably within a public accounting firm.
Proficiency in Lacerte Tax Software is a must. Experience with other tax software is a plus.
Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex tax situations and apply appropriate solutions.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, especially during tax season.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for client interaction and teamwork.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage a high-volume workload.
CPA certification or progress toward obtaining (preferred, but not required).
