Robert Half Tax Preparer in San Mateo, California

Description We are hiring for the role of a Tax Preparer to join our team based in SAN MATEO, California. In this role, you will primarily work on various tax returns including individual, partnership, trust, estate return, and different corporations. This role is not remote and may transition to a hybrid model in the future. This position offers a contract-to-hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare different types of tax returns such as individual, partnership, trust, estate return, and various corporations.

• Utilize accounting software systems and tools like Lacerte, Prosystem and Microsoft Excel for tax preparation and document management.

• Engage directly with clients, providing excellent customer service and handling inquiries.

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and documentation.

• Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and ensure work does not fall behind.

• Work collaboratively with a team of 3 CPAs and report to the senior management.

• Participate in phone and in-person interviews as part of the recruitment process.

• Adhere to a business casual dress code and manage parking arrangements.

• Utilize Lacerte for most of the tax preparation work, with Prosystem being used for partnerships.

• Ensure the highest level of accuracy and commitment to perfection in all tasks. Requirements

• Must possess proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.

• Experience with Lacerte Tax Software or Pro Systems is essential.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for managing and analyzing data.

• Strong customer service skills to handle client inquiries and maintain client relationships.

• Excellent documentation skills to maintain accurate records and reports.

• Experience in Expense Reporting for accurate tracking and managing of expenses.

• Must have the ability to manage and maintain financial records effectively.

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field is preferred.

• Prior experience in a Tax Preparer role or a similar position is advantageous.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure during tax season.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Must adhere to all federal, state, and local laws regarding tax preparation.

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
