Robert Half Sr. Accountant in San Rafael, California

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in San Rafael, California. This role is pivotal in our financial department and involves managing daily Accounts Payable tasks, ensuring all financial reports are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and supporting the financial activities of the organization.

Responsibilities include:

• Directing the financial activities of the organization and safeguarding assets.

• Sorting and verifying accuracy of Night Audit work, including reconciliation of banquet check extensions and coding of banquets at cost.

• Providing support to businesses by managing daily Accounts Payable tasks.

• Recording department administration phone calls and flagging any potential concern.

• Reconciling credit card back-up to General Cashier Summary and addressing any discrepancies.

• Setting up new accounts in accordance with established credit policy.

• Ensuring purchasing procedures are followed, i.e.: purchase order price compared to invoice price, purchase order quantity compared to invoice quantity.

• Processing all approved invoices for payment, ensuring all appropriate signatures and back-up attached.

• Handling all vendor inquiries and reconciling vendor statements.

• Performing General Ledger and City Ledger reconciliations.

• Posting Daily Revenues, costs, and banking, by reviewing all source documentation.

The role requires proficiency in skills such as Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger management, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, and Month End Close. Requirements • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role

• Proficient in account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation

• Ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently

• Solid understanding and experience with general ledger functions

• Capability to handle journal entries and month-end close procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

• High ethical standards and professionalism, as it relates to handling sensitive financial information.
