Manager, Benefits Accounting
As Manager , Benefits Accounting , your specific responsibilities will include:
Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to, the accounting for: Medical insurance, workers compensation, pension accounting, retirement plans, paid leave plans, disability plans.
Ensure that the accounting practices and transactions are in compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies.
Perform complex analysis to ensure integrity of financial data and provide analysis to senior financial management.
Meet with external actuaries to ensure proper accounting for self-insured medical, international pension, and workers compensation plans.
Monitor the month end close process including the financial system interfaces to GL, identify the root cause of system interface failures and ensure accuracy and completeness of the accounting transactions.
Analyze month end close activities including expense accruals, adjustments, actuarial analysis.
Prepare/approve month-end/quarter-end journal entries, as required.
Participate in external and internal quarter-end and year-end audits.
Hire, train, develop/mentor, and motivate employees and maintain high team morale.
Provide feedback on performance and provides related coaching/counseling.
Ensure excellent customer service by ensuring the quality and timeliness of the output from the department.
Provide leadership and direction to the team and foster support for the achievement of department goals and objectives.
Create a positive and productive work environment that fosters innovation and that aligns with RH’s guiding principles and code of ethics.
Evaluate and plan current and future staffing requirements.
Manage department workload and ensure tasks are properly distributed among the department by evaluating the teams' abilities to handle the complexity of assigned tasks.
Identify opportunities to streamline operational and business processes.
Lead the development and improvement of processes for a dynamic and growing business environment.
Work with the Business System Analysts, Corporate Accounting, Field Service Center (FSC) and IT for process improvement initiatives.
Create/approve Business Requirement documentation when system changes are needed.
Perform User Acceptance Testing and validate Workday Global Financials configuration for new processes, as required.
Supervise the development, processing, review, and distribution of internal monthly financial reports for the Corporate Service departments and Field/Sales Management.
Ensure integrity of the Control Environment within the organization. Update control process maps as needed to reflect the constantly updated environment.
BS in Accounting. CPA preferred.
8+ years’ or 6+ years’ with 3+ years’ in public accounting.
3+ years’ of managerial experience.
Some operational accounting experience a plus.
Management dynamics. Strong understanding of GAAP and SOX with experience in GAAP research & documenting accounting policies in compliance with GAAP & best practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, high proficiency with Excel.
Enterprise wide & ERP application experience required. Workday Global Financials preferred.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and apply critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage in a complex business systems environment and adapt to new system technology.
System implementation experience a plus.
Demonstrated ability in process improvements and creating efficiencies.
Experience in establishing, monitoring, and evaluating financial and operational internal controls over financial systems and processes.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities.
Ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
Ability to communicate/present information to employees on all levels and in small or large groups.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, sound judgment, and strong customer service orientation.
Ability to maintain effectiveness and flexibility while experiencing changes in work task or work environment.
Agility to adapt to an environment of continuous improvement.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
