Accountemps is looking for a Staff Accountant for a short term temporary-to-fulltime role. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will provide support in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. How you will make an impact
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Proficiency in full charge bookkeeping
Microsoft Excel experience required
QuickBooks Pro experience
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Skilled with ERP systems
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
