Description

We are a leading manufacturing company seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Manager of Technical Accounting & Reporting. As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing our company's technical accounting function and ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Fluency in Korean, along with expertise in technical accounting and reporting, is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial reporting, deep knowledge of IFRS and GAAP, and the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts in Korean.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technical accounting and reporting function, ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant accounting regulations.

  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and regulations, providing guidance and recommendations on their impact on the company's financial reporting.

  • Analyze complex accounting transactions, develop accounting policies, and provide guidance to cross-functional teams on proper accounting treatment.

  • Review and oversee the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and management reports in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and company policies.

  • Collaborate with external auditors to address technical accounting matters, resolve audit queries, and ensure timely completion of audits.

  • Perform detailed research on technical accounting issues and prepare accounting memos documenting conclusions and recommendations.

  • Assess the impact of new accounting standards, proposed regulations, and business transactions on the company's financial statements.

  • Develop and implement internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

  • Provide training and guidance to finance and accounting teams on technical accounting matters and changes in accounting standards.

  • Communicate and collaborate with Korean-speaking stakeholders, including senior management and regional teams, on technical accounting matters and financial reporting requirements.

  • Support the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial plans by providing technical accounting expertise and insights.

  • Participate in M& A due diligence activities, assess the accounting implications of potential acquisitions, and provide guidance on purchase accounting.

  • Monitor emerging trends and best practices in technical accounting and reporting, recommending improvements to enhance financial reporting processes.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.

  • CPA designation is required. Additional certifications such as ACCA or CFA are advantageous.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, or auditing.

  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and other accounting standards.

  • Fluency in Korean and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex accounting issues and provide practical solutions.

  • Proficiency in financial reporting software and ERP systems; familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or similar systems is a plus.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial reporting.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex accounting concepts to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

  • In-depth knowledge of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
