The full-time Controller position is situated in the Santa Barbara, California area. In this role, it will be critical for you to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
CPA/MBA preferred
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience with budgeting
Adeptness in account analysis
Demonstrated knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation
Solid understanding of Financial Statement
Proficiency in Deltek Vision

Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
