Located in the Santa Fe, New Mexico region, the organization offering this long-term contract / temporary to full-time opportunity provides rewards to those who dedicate extra effort in the work place. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a time commitment, since it produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. And during the monthly close, your responsibilities will also cover various aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and playing an active role in compliance.
Major responsibilities
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Efficient in ERP systems
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
Abila MIP experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of grant accounting
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
