Description

Candidates should be driven by challenges and working with many components. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. To succeed in this role, you will need to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area, at a company where effort is rewarded. Key responsibilities
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision
Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation
Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

Requirements
Ideal candidate will have:
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
3+ years of Governmental / Fund Accounting
Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
Abila MIP experience preferred
Adjusting Journal Entries experience preferred
Adeptness in Bank Account Reconciliation
Proficiency in journal entries
Demonstrated knowledge of Monthly Account Reconciliation
Solid understanding of general ledger
Account reconciliation experience
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
