Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Santa Rosa, California
Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the construction industry, located in Santa Rosa, California. The role involves managing and analyzing financial information, enhancing financial processes, and playing a crucial role in the monthly close process. The Sr. Accountant will also be responsible for a variety of ongoing projects aimed at process improvements to boost efficiency and strengthen the overall control environment.
Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of accounting principles and apply them in all tasks.
• Prepare Work in Progress schedules and forecasting, focusing on job budgets, profits, revenues, billings, and backlogs.
• Track, collect, and enter fixed asset data in various accounting software programs.
• Perform month-end close activities, including the preparation of job cost allocations, journal entries, and reconciliations for various accounts.
• Support the accounting team in annual audit documentation, respond to audit inquiries, and ensure the timeliness of year-end audit deliverables.
• Manage the costing and audits of the Owner Contractor Insurance Program.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and outcomes.
• Prepare and facilitate ongoing analytical reviews in support of the monthly billing process.
• Participate in process improvements and automation of manual processes to achieve efficiency and scalability.
• Handle ad hoc accounting requests as needed and take on special projects.
• Use Microsoft Office Suite, O365, and advanced Excel functions (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) for various tasks. Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Excel
• Previous experience with Journal Entries, General Ledger, and Fixed Asset Ledger
• Competence in Project Accounting and Project Cost management
• Demonstrated ability to Manage Budgets effectively
• Experience with Variance Analysis
• Familiarity with Month-end Financial, Month-end Close Activities, Month-end Journal Entries, and Month-end Reports
• Ability to Perform Month-end tasks efficiently
• Experience in Intercompany Eliminations and Intercompany Accounting
• Knowledge and understanding of GAAP Accounting standards
• Previous experience in the Construction/Contractor industry is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
