Robert Half Director of Accounting in Savannah, Georgia

Description

This position can be based in Savannah or Brunswick, with minimal (a few times a year) travel between the two locations.

A Community-Based Organization Serving Eight Counties (Camden, Glynn, McIntosh, Liberty, Chatham, Bryan, Long, and Effingham) in Georgia is looking for Director of Accounting.

This position answers to the CFO and is in line to move into the CFO role. This position is under minimal supervision, manages all accounting and certain business functions for a multi-entity agency. Directly supervises three professional accountants and four para-professional staff in the functions of general ledger accounting, payroll, accounts payable and consumer funds accounting. Establishes/implements departmental accounting and business policies and procedures that are in accordance with statutory and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and maintains effective internal controls. Performs periodic operational analyses of accounting, business and systems procedures and develops and implements improvements to increase efficiency and operational effectiveness. Performs advanced professional accounting duties that require the independent application of GAAP and principles issued by the Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB). Analyses, records and interprets financial transactions, reconciles account data and prepares specialized and standard accounting reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or Bachelor in Business with experience in Accounting

• CPA designation preferred but not required.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles.

• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Experience with financial reporting and ERP systems

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
