Description
We are in search of a Accountant to join our team located in Albany, New York. In this role, you will have a variety of responsibilities in the areas of payroll and accounting, where you will handle tasks such as processing weekly payroll for numerous associates, maintaining employee payroll records, and assisting in general HR administrative functions. You will also perform accounting tasks such as reconciling GL accounts, generating payroll reports, ensuring tax compliance, and working with the general ledger.
Responsibilities:
• Perform general accounting duties such as reconciling GL accounts, generating KPI reports, and working with the General Ledger.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting and payment of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local tax requirements.
• Identify and implement improvements to payroll and accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with HR, department managers, and management to address payroll and accounting-related issues and support overall company operations.
• Handle the review and processing of weekly payroll for a large number of associates.
• Ensure the accuracy of computed wages and correct any errors before payroll transmittal.
• Assist in processing weekly payroll including time clock reconciliation and weekly/monthly bonuses.
• Process personnel change notices (PCN), paid time off (PTO) and provide Employee Benefit Summary.
• Maintain comprehensive files of employee’s payroll information.
• Manage daily interactions with payroll and benefit providers and comply with laws regarding FLSA, FMLA, ACA , EEOC.

Requirements
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Payroll Accountant or in a similar role.
• Proficiency with Accounting Software Systems is required.
• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions is essential.
• Experience in processing payroll is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred, associates or experience can be subsitituted.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to take initiative.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll.
