Description Robert Half is searching for an efficient Controller to join a reputable services company. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. How you will make an impact

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation Requirements - Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Previous experience working with insurance management

  • Practical knowledge of reconciliations

  • Strong familiarity with financial analysis

  • Cash Flow Analysis experience highly preferred

  • Reporting experience

  • Adeptness in forecasting

  • Good understanding of Stakeholder communications

  • Foundational knowledge in budgeting

  • Legal Matters experience highly valued

  • Demonstrated knowledge of year end closings

  • Earlier work involving external auditing

  • Financial Management experience desired

  • Expertise in Operational controls

  • General familiarity with cash management

  • Background working with Project Control

  • Comprehension of Federal Government Reporting

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
