The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Shelby, North Carolina region. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every day
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports Requirements - CPA or MBA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Demonstrated knowledge of Inventory Audits
Foundational knowledge in financial reporting
Adeptness in month end closings
SyteLine experience required
Proficiency in cost accounting
Syteline ERP experience desired
General familiarity with Inventory Tracking
Monthly Financial Reports experience highly desired
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
