Manager Financial Accounting

If you're a practical Financial Accounting Manager with a knack for establishing and regulating an organization's accounting and finance procedures, this could be the job for you! Consider this position if you are ready take charge of daily operations, such as preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties, will be preferred for this Accounting Manager position with a burgeoning, innovative company. Located in the Shelby Twp, Michigan area, this Accounting Manager position would be on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be the lead accounting person for the US site but will be responsible for the consolidations of the US plant and the 3 international plants (Australia, UK and CAN). You will also be responsible for supervising two other Managers who have 5 reporting into each of them.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Possess a working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

  • Encourage and manage the full accounting team performance so that close deadlines are met

  • Regular review and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts owned by Senior Accountant

  • Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes

  • Play key role in implementation of NetSuite Financials including system and process design, data migration, testing, training, and go-forward system administration

  • Collaborate with FP&A and accounting management to deliver relevant and timely reporting of financial data analytics, including monthly flash report, key financial metrics, and actual spend against budgets/outlook

  • Assemble various technical accounting policies, procedures, and analyses

-Manage intercompany and interdivisional transactions, forecasting, reporting and reconciliations

-Primary interface with external audit team for quarterly and annual reviews, audits and associated testing. Support to SOX, Internal Audit and Government audits as needed

-Provide guidance, advice and support to business on technical accounting topics including implementation strategies for upcoming accounting standards and policy changes. Develop technical expertise within the accounting teams.

• Manage the Accounts Receivable and Treasury functions for both US and International sites to include the following:

• Accounts receivable collections, cash application and cash reporting

• Management of bank relationships

• Develop and implement strong internal control environments ensuring performance of all key controls and maintenance of consistent and compliant policies and procedures across all sites

• Lead, coach and mentor Accounting, Receivable and Treasury teams.


-Minimum 8 years of strong, technical/research accounting experience

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

-Manufacturing experience mandatory if have government contracting experience would be ideal

  • Reliable technology and analytical abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset

  • CPA Mandatory

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel

-Ideal background is a blended public/corporate or straight out of public at a Manager or higher level

-Experience in percentage of completion accounting, SEC requirements and government contracting beneficial

-Ability to understand, prioritize, integrate, organize and communicate financial and management issues to provide a complete picture view and the ability to make management decisions is required.

-Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are essential for interacting with staff, with varying backgrounds and missions as well as facilitating process implementation and continuous process improvement.
