In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Smyrna, Tennessee region.
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time Requirements - Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Strategic Analysis experience
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
