Robert Half International Payroll Manager in South Brunswick, New Jersey


My client, a rapidly growing publicly traded start up Pharmaceutical company located in South Brunswick, has a brand new opportunity for a Payroll Manager.


The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise all payroll functions for the organization, ensuring pay is processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position will work the Finance and HR team, with opportunities to further develop processes within our rapidly growing company. The ideal Payroll Manager will have a solid understanding of ADP and possess a background in multi-state payroll processing including state and federal labor laws

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and pay rates changes.

  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.

  • Reconciles insurance invoices against eligible employees, ensuring proper employee deductions are setup and invoices are accurate.

  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions in accordance with the Company’s internal control system and SOX. Ensures that the business’s payroll procedures are documented, reviewed and updated on a regular basis and maintain comprehensive documentation in support of internal/external audit requests.

  • Process 940/941 tax payments, accurate and timely year end reporting (W-2, W-2c, 1095), and compile key operational payroll metrics and dashboards.

  • Assists with maintenance of employee benefits.

  • Understands how to setup, track and file information related to employees’ garnishments/liens, workers compensation claims, unemployment claims and employment verifications.


Previous working experience as a Payroll Manager for 5+ year(s).

BSc/BA in accounting/business or similar relevant field.

Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.

In-depth knowledge of general accounting principles and payroll best practices.

Hands on experience with relevant payroll and accounting software (e.g., ADP, UltiPro, Insperity) and databases.
