Position Summary:

The Tax & Accounting Manager role is primarily responsible for managing the overall operation of our accounting and tax department, this includes tax return preparations and bookkeeping that is completed by each accountant. The ideal candidate is one that is highly knowledgeable and experienced in business and individual tax preparation, accounting and bookkeeping, and can work independently on assignments in these fields. The candidate should be detail-oriented, strong in critical thinking, efficient, have effective communication skills and most importantly strong leadership skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Confidently manage the accounting and tax team of four individuals independently and smoothly

  • Prepare and oversee all tax return preparations for businesses and individuals, and advise clients on maximizing savings and proper filing procedures

  • Resolve any issues clients may have with their tax or accounting, such as tax issues with IRS on an agent level.

  • Prepare monthly bookkeeping, bank and account reconciliation, General ledger, financial statement preparation and analysis.

  • Review the accuracy of journal entries and reconciliations of the accounting team

  • Insure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly balance sheets and P&L statements for clients

  • Assist in evaluating current accounting and tax processes and implement methods for improvement and efficiency

  • Complete large volumes of tax return preparations during tax season and throughout the year

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in business and individual tax preparation and public accounting required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

  • CPA Required

  • Must have legal right to work in the United States

Skills and Abilities:Passionate about working in a team environment

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines required

  • Strong communications, interpersonal, written and oral skills required

  • Highly motivated and proactive in problem solving required

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft, Google Suite, Quickbook and tax filing software (Preferably Ultratax)

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Hardworking, self-starter, punctual and personable

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
