Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Southfield, Michigan

Description

We are in the process of hiring a Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Information Technology industry located in SOUTHFIELD, Michigan. The role offers a short term contract employment opportunity and requires a highly organized individual with a keen eye for detail. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be tasked with managing payroll activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and developing systems to streamline processes.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and related operations for the company's employees.

• Manage all payroll activities including processing new employees, terminations, transfers, and promotions.

• Maintain and update payroll records in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll to ensure accuracy.

• Prepare and submit reports on payroll to the appropriate department for record keeping.

• Address and resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting departments to facilitate smooth payroll operations.

• Stay updated with changes in benefit and tax laws to ensure compliance and update the payroll system accordingly.

• Handle filing and maintenance of all payroll-related documents to ensure organized record keeping.

• Issue statements detailing earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages on a regular basis.

Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing.

• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of payroll software, preferably Full Cycle Payroll.

• Strong knowledge of payroll taxes and employment regulations.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Excellent numeracy and data entry skills.

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Familiarity with Information Technology systems used in payroll processing.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding payroll information.

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
