Robert Half Property Accountant in Southfield, Michigan

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Property Accountant in Southfield, MI. The role involves preparing balance sheet account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and providing financial information to property managers and ownership. The Property Accountant will also contribute to the preparation of annual and monthly budgetary information for related entities, review expense classification, and assure timely payment of all liabilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations including cash, assets, and liabilities.

• Analytically review operational information such as expense classification and adherence to budget.

• Post journal entries to ensure financials are accurately stated on a monthly basis.

• Timely provision of accurate financial information to property managers and ownership on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Contribute to the preparation of annual and monthly budgetary information for related entities.

• Review classification of all expenses and revenues for each property.

• Regularly review cash balance to assure timely payment of all liabilities.

• Ensure timely payment of mortgages and other liabilities.

• Assist with the preparation of financial information related to financing/refinancing, lender reporting, and lender compliance.

• Prepare replacement reserve draws and enter fixed assets on a quarterly basis.

• Review job cost invoices/postings for accuracy to budget.

• Participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Property Accountant role or similar

• Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with handling Cash Activity

• Proficiency in using Yardi Software is preferred

• Experience in preparing and analyzing Journal Entries

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal tax regulations is a plus

• Familiarity with property management industry is a plus.
