Description

We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team located in Spokane, Washington. The Staff Accountant will be instrumental in handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. This role offers a contract employment opportunity in the industry.

Responsibilities:

· Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.

· Assists with preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.

· Management of fixed asset listing.

· Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.

· Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.

· Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.

· Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

· Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.

· Files tax forms and other reports with various government agencies (e.g., sales tax, 1099s, census reports, property tax assessments).

· Maintains state and local business licensing.

· Maintains the general ledger.

· 401(k) plan administration.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.

· Two to three years general accounting experience preferred.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

· Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
