Description

A client of ours in the Spring area is offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accountant. The individual will be responsible for the accounting functions, including assisting with month-end closing, ensuring a high degree of accuracy with strong accounting fundamentals, providing analysis and reports as needed. A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5+ years of experience is preferred, along with experience in QuickBooks. Responsibilities:

• Maintain the integrity of the income statement and balance sheet.

• Coordinate the accurate and timely completion of the financial month-end.

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.

• Evaluate financial statements and general ledger for errors and omissions and investigate the root cause of errors.

• Review monthly balance sheet and profit and loss statements.

• Review, redesign, and enhance the financial statements to ensure that the information reported properly reflects the company’s financial position and is useful to management.

• Streamline monthly closing procedures.

• Manage fixed assets in the Fixed Asset System and reconcile back to the P& L and balance sheet.

• Coordinate financial processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial data.

• Assist with financial audits.

• Assist with preparing board presentations and materials as needed.

• Apply accounting policies and principles to accounting records and financial statements as well as ensuring the proper level of internal control is maintained.

• Work closely with AR and AP administrators to review and support those processes.

• Prioritize work effectively and work independently.

• Four year accounting degree years of finance/accounting experience in lieu of degree requirement

• Profit and Loss Statements and Balance Sheet reconciliation experience preferred

• Government Accounting experience a plus

• Advanced skills in Excel required.

• Ability to work effectively with teams toward a common goal.

• Strong communication skills

• Flexibility in working with competing projects and objectives.

• Strong Time Management & Organizational skills
