Description Robert Half has an opportunity for someone with a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department to become a Controller at a reputable Construction/Contractor company. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services will be essential for this role. Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements
Strong attention to detail
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Month end closings experience
Enterprise resource planning experience highly desired
Adeptness in construction
Financial reporting experience desired
Strong familiarity with management
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
