Robert Half Controller in St. Paul, Minnesota
Description We are offering an opportunity for a Controller based in St. Paul, Minnesota. This role is significant for maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization by overseeing accounting and payroll functions. The Controller will be managing a team of accountants and payroll specialists and will be directly reporting to the VP of Finance. The Controller will also be expected to work closely with brand leadership and the VP of Finance to optimize financial processes, implement robust controls, and foster a culture of accountability.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes related to accounting and payroll.
• Oversee general ledger functions including account reconciliations, approval of journal entries, and month-end close checklist activities.
• Process transactions correctly and in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP and other company policies.
• Review current processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, and safeguard company assets.
• Supervise and mentor the local brand accounting and payroll staff, providing guidance, feedback, and training to ensure their professional development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, Operations, IT, FP& A, Revenue Cycle) to support daily operations and strategic initiatives.
• Lead the accounting and payroll integration of new acquisitions including transitioning bank relationships, setting up AP with shared services, mapping trial balance to Net Suite, transition from cash to accrual basis accounting as applicable, along with other process transitions.
• Assess acquired payroll and accounting team resources and recommend go forward structure to align with regional best practices and develop process consistency across brands.
• Proficient in using accounting software and ERP solutions for financial management. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is desirable
• Knowledge of DCAA regulations and procedures is essential
• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions is necessary
• Must have handled Accounting Functions and Accounts Receivable (AR) in previous roles
• Experience in Auditing and Budget Processes is required
• Knowledge of Business to Business Integration (B2Bi) is necessary
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Integration Environment is advantageous
• Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the specified location
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
• Must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently
• A professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or similar is highly preferred
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is required; a Master's degree is preferable.
