Robert Half Sr. Accountant in St. Paul, Minnesota

Description We are seeking a Sr. Accountant based in St. Paul, Minnesota. This role is central to our operations within the retail industry, particularly in the areas of account reconciliation, financial reporting, and inventory analysis. The successful candidate should have a strong background in accounting and be well-versed in various accounting software.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with account reconciliations, including bank, investments, credit card, and others such as prepaid expenses or liability accounts.

• Conduct month-end procedures including the preparation of monthly journal entries and inventory checks.

• Ensure a timely and accurate monthly close by walking through month-end spreadsheets.

• Assist in the preparation of month-end reports, including the calculation of key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Occasionally assist with accounts payable tasks such as processing invoices, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements.

• Process credit card transactions and monthly credit card reconciliations when necessary.

• Enter payroll journal entries and monthly accrual entries.

• Assist with sales orders in the accounting software and monthly reconciliation between accounting software and CRM.

• Support the organization with other projects and requests as needed.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close

• Experience with Zoho, Zoho Office Suite, KPI Reporting, Annual Inventory, Annual Financial Reporting

• Knowledge of the retail industry is beneficial. Requirements • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the retail sector.

• Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Zoho Office Suite is required.

• Demonstrated experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Hands-on experience with account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Proficient in preparing journal entries and managing KPI reporting.

• Experience with annual inventory and annual financial reporting is essential.

• Ability to handle large amounts of data and compile detailed reports.

• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality is required.

• Excellent analytical skills along with the ability to create and present detailed reports.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and the ability to work within a team.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
