Accounts Payable opportunity in Sugar Land area. If you are tired of commuting into Houston and live in the Sugar Land area this could be an amazing opportunity for you.

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to become part of their high volume accounts payable department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in manual processing and invoicing and will play a pivotal role in matching invoices with the corresponding purchase orders, preparing and cutting checks accurately and timely. This position will require extensive interaction with both vendors and internal executives, necessitating exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities for the Accounts Payable Clerk position

  1. Manage full-cycle accounts payable process.

  2. Match purchase orders with corresponding invoices.

  3. Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents.

  4. Prepare and cut checks in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy.

  5. Maintain vendor files, handling W9 and insurance coverage.

  6. Resolve discrepancies in invoices and payment, reconciling any differences.

  7. Assist in the preparation of reports detailing accounts payable status.

  8. Extensive interaction with vendors and internal executives.

  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the management team.

Requirements for the Accounts Payable Clerk position

Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and accounts payable procedures.

Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk in a high-volume atmosphere is a must.

Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

Efficient and accurate data entry skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and quickly, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to collaborate effectively with various internal departments and external vendors.

Requirements - Prior experience in an A/P role preferred

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Possess strong organizational and follow-up skills

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience

  • Educational Institutions experience required

  • AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or similar preferred

  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, especially with both technical and financial backgrounds
