Robert Half Plant Costing Manager in Sterling, Virginia

Description

The Manager, Plant Costing is responsible for the monitoring of established financial metrics and overseeing the accounting activities of various production lines and SKUs. This role entails scrutinizing line and plant efficiencies, direct and indirect costs versus throughput, and the weekly reporting of quantifiable Key Performance Indicators (KPI). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise plant results against budget, track local cost metrics trends, and oversee related activities.

• Evaluate and measure financial returns against production forecast in collaboration with the Planning department.

• Coordinate with the local Accounting/Finance team on daily reports.

• Steer the site towards optimal financial results: provide advice to Plant Managers and Supervisors regarding cost targets and standards.

• Monitor and analyze daily production yield, downtime, and labor, report weekly KPIs along with trends.

• Keep track of, analyze and report period over period actual results against the budget.

• Observe capacity week over week in relation to efficiency and automation opportunities.

• Engage closely with operations and warehouse leadership to ensure that all financial reporting and transactions are complete, accurate, and timely. This includes Work in Process and Finished Goods.

• Facilitate and lead the coordination of all internal and external financial and operational audits and address any audit findings with plant & warehousing and corporate leadership.

• Conduct frequent site visits to local manufacturing facilities in conjunction with Plant Leadership to address production and costing challenges as well as efficiency enhancements.

• Develop short- and long-term departmental goals and objectives in the form of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

• BA in Accounting or Finance or equivalent, with at least 5 years’ experience in a reporting capacity.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing or a related production field.

• Comprehensive knowledge of production functional areas within operations and indirect costs.

• Understanding of Operations, Planning, and Forecasting in relation to a Company’s P& L.

• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

• Prior supervisory experience is desirable.

• Experience in using NetSuite and/or Plex software is a plus.
