A growing privately held equipment sales, rentals and services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all corporate accounting functions, to include journal entry, account reconciliation, month end/year end close processes, financial reporting, internal controls and management reporting.
Guide all operations of the accounting department including accounts receivable, accounts payable and billing.
Manage daily cash management with week-to-week cash forecasting.
Oversee banking and loan relationships.
Maintain vendor relationship including negotiation of contracts.
Calculate and complete Texas sales and use tax requirements as well as work with external tax accountants on Federal and Texas Franchise tax returns.
Process payroll including calculation of sales rep commissions.
Work with our third-party HR/PEO company as the on-site face for Human Resources including benefits.
Work with our insurance brokers on issuance of certificates and annual renewals.
BA/BS in Accounting with 10+ years progressive accounting experience including as Controller with a small privately held growing company preferred. Strong leadership skills as this role will be the business partner to leadership and supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and warehouse staff. CPA or MBA preferred.
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Demonstrated knowledge of NetSuite CRM
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Comprehensive knowledge of Month-end Close Activities
Variance analysis experience highly desired
Knowledge of month end closings
Budget forecasting experience
Financial statement preparation experience
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Great attention to detail
