Robert Half Staff Accountant in Sugar Land, Texas
Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in the Energy/Natural Resources industry. This role will be based in Sugar Land, Texas. The chosen candidate will be tasked with preparing financial statements, maintaining business partnerships throughout the organization, and conducting various accounting and business research tasks. This role follows a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements as required by the company
• Assisting with the preparation of operating budgets and forecasts
• Conducting research and explanation of monthly, quarterly, and annual income statement variances, as well as balance sheet analysis
• Reconciling all accounts, including derivatives and acquisition specific accounts
• Assisting with cash-flow forecasting
• Researching and resolving accounting and business issues
• Assisting with the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
• Preparing and responding to external and internal auditors
• Performing other duties as assigned by management. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger operations
• Skilled in preparing Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Knowledge of the Energy/Natural Resources industry is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
• Familiarity with accounting software and systems.
