Robert Half Plant Controller in Sumter, South Carolina

Description

Our client is in search of a Plant Controller to join their team in Sumter, South Carolina. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the plant, ensuring compliance with accounting guidelines and corporate policies. This key role involves managing financial information to guide strategic decisions, developing and implementing internal controls, and reporting to the Plant Manager and Corporate Finance department.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the financial activities of the plant, providing accurate financial information to guide operational decisions.

• Prepare and issue financial statements for the plant, overseeing the monthly and annual closing of books.

• Develop strategies to protect company assets, establish internal controls, and provide information to internal and external auditors.

• Oversee general ledger activities, including payroll, expense and account reconciliation, and variance analysis.

• Review accounting reports from various software applications for accuracy and scope of data.

• Prepare the annual plant budget and monthly forecasts for both operational and statistical projections.

• Manage the annual physical inventory process, investigating large or unusual inventory gains or losses.

• Track inventory turns and monitor monthly cycle count results and material usage variances.

• Establish, implement, and maintain accounting control procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

• Optimize the use of software applications to ensure data integrity and provide accurate and timely reporting.

Requirements

• Must possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role

• Proficiency in budgeting and forecasting is required

• Experience with ERP software is essential

• Advanced knowledge of Excel formulas is expected

• Proficiency in cost accounting is necessary

• Experience with month-end close procedures is required

• Must have a strong background in financial reporting

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is required

• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is desirable.
