Robert Half Staff Accountant in Syracuse, New York

Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in Syracuse, New York. This role within the commercial construction industry will involve overseeing daily accounting functions, processing monthly invoices, generating A/P and A/R reports, and reviewing job costs. The Staff Accountant will also be tasked with keeping track of collections and maintaining appropriate documentation. The position offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the processing of monthly invoices for completed work and ensure the accuracy of job cost reports.

• Generate A/P and A/R reports and engage in collections to determine the monthly state of accounts.

• Assist with the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports.

• Take part in year-end reporting in collaboration with a third-party CPA firm.

• Maintain accurate physical and electronic filing of all accounting records.

• Work alongside production administrators and project managers to ensure accurate and timely job costing.

• Safeguard company assets and suggest cost-saving initiatives.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data to the production team.

• Understand pay classifications to accurately track monthly union dues payments.

• Implement efficient customer credit application processes and maintain accurate customer credit records. Requirements • Proficiency in using accounting software such as NetSuite and QuickBooks

• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations accurately

• Comprehensive knowledge of the General Ledger

• Experience in creating and managing Journal Entries

• Capable of performing Month End Close tasks efficiently

• Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
